Girder:- http://www.girder.nl/ Free (1.6 MB). Windows any version.
Sometimes we find ourselves repeating the same actions over and over again. For example- launching media player, loading a playlist, adjusting the volume, then pressing Play. It will be really great if we can perform all of these actions with a single click or key stroke. It will be still better if we can activate such actions from a remote control device or even over the internet. Girder is a fantastic Windows automation utility that can do all of this and more. Commands are stored in a tree-like structure and are triggered by what Girder calls 'events'.
Girder is a program that can take any input ( keyboard, remote control, internet ) and translate that into actions on your computer. These actions can be for example controlling winamp, a DVD player, shutting down windows, typing, moving the mouse, click start programme etc. There are many, many more things that can be done using this. Everything that Girder does is capsuled in a command. These commands are stored in a so called tree. Furthermore Girder has a plugin infrastructure so one can extend the functionality of Girder if so desired. It also supports Targetting so even the programme window is on background, it can be targetted and action can be performed on that. Multiple windows and even an invisible window can get a button press or any other action. The programme supports 27 languages as of now and it provides the tools to support translation in other languages. Some of the actions it can do are given below -
Keypress simulation.
Sentence type simulation.
Monitor off/on, Powerdown/Shutdown/Logoff/Reboot.
Play Wav files.
Recording and Playback of the most important window messages! Almost every button click, menu click, key press generates this type of message. Girder captures these and plays them back.
Mouse movements.
Closing windows, Hiding/Showing windows and controls.
Button clicks and double clicks.
Full control of the Volume of all soundcards.
On Screen Display.
Talking Clock.
Conditional execution of commands.
(Sleep) Timer.
Controlling the digital camera.
Finally I can say that this is an excellent Shortcut maker, which can be used to improve our productivity and efficiency.
