MnoGoSearch (formerly known as UdmSearch) is a full-featured web search engine software for intranet and internet servers. mnoGoSearch software has a number of unique features, which makes it appropriate for a wide range of applications from search within the site to specialized search systems. It consists of two parts. The first is an indexing mechanism (indexer). The purpose of the indexer is to walk through HTTP, FTP, NEWS servers or local files, recursively grabbing all the documents and storing words meta-data about those documents in an SQL database in a smart and efficient manner. Following are the features of this software.
After every document is referenced by its corresponding URL, meta-data, collected by the indexer is used later in the search process. The search is performed via Web interface. C CGI front end, PHP search script and Perl search script are included.
Full text indexing. Different priority can be configured for body, title, keywords, description of a document. It means that it allows searching a user-specified metadata database, in addition to the full text search.
Allows filters to search full text pdf/ps/.doc etc.
Allows using metadata in the results list.
Supporting all widely used single- and multi-byte character sets, including UTF8, as well as most of the popular Eastern Asia languages.
Automatic document character set and language guesser for about 70 charset/language combinations.
ASP-front-end; Web-configurator.
HTTP/1.0 support; FTP support; NNTP support (both news:// and nntp:// URL schemes) in standard and extended modes.
Local file system indexing support (file: URL schema).
Supporting gzip, deflate, compress content encoding.
Different SQL databases support. Currently MySQL, PostgreSQL, miniSQL, Solid, Virtuoso, InterBase, Oracle, SyBase, MS SQL, iODBC, unixODBC, EasySoft ODBC-ODBC bridge IBM DB2 databases may be used as MnoGoSearch backend.
Search clusters: a possibility to distribute database between several machines.

It is very flexible. One can configure mnoGoSearch to run in different modes, including 'ftpsearch mode' (searching through URLs rather than their content), 'link validation' (to check site for bad references), 'netminder' (What's new since ...?). There is also extended news support built into the package.
It also comes with an integrated extension to archive news servers. This means that one can now download all messages from a news server and save them completely in a database. Benefit is that one can search the complete message base with all the features of software and can still browse discussion threads over the complete archive.
MnoGoSearch is also available for Windows but it is not free. A trial version for 30 days is available.
